HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

This time I’m just going to give you a quick synopsis of the week, since it was a short one.   We did a lot of reviewing this week.  We also learned about capacity in math.  (In first grade, that basically means, “Which container holds more?”)  Homework consisted of la few math pages, reading for fun, and writing a Thanksgiving story.

We had a lot of fun stuff happen this week.  On Monday and Tuesday, the students dressed like “pilgrims and indians” to reenact the first Thanksgiving.  Today (Wednesday) the students earned a Thanksgiving party, where we played games, made Thanksgiving cards, and watched The Magic School Bus.

Funny Stuff From Kids:  One student said this week that he really liked to eat famine! (He was actually meaning “salmon.”)

During recess, one boy this week turned his pilgrim hat that we had made backwards and said, “I’m a pilgrim rock star.”

Two kids playing house during recess: “Honey, did you remind Mom to do the laundry?”  I love their perspective.  They played house as if they were married, but their Mom’s still took care of them.  It was really cute.

One girl this week didn’t want to wear the pilgrim hat she’d made because she said it made her look like a girl!
